GREEN CHEEK SCULPTURE

  • Concept + pattern design
  • Hand fabrication

History:

Lefty was inspired by a sweet little green cheek at the Animal Company here in San Francisco.

As a baby, his left wing had been tragically pinned in his cage and had to be amputated at the elbow – hence his name. In spite of this trauma, he was one of the most affectionate little parrots I've ever known. He just loved to play, and was totally fearless.

Details:

The high quality faux fur was was hand-dyed exclusively with Tria markers, then scissor trimmed and dyed again.

Lefty's feet utilized the same method of bundling brass wires with heat-shrink tubing, but I added an addtional covering of Ultrasuede to match the look of a parrot's plump little toes.

Specs:

Sculpture dimensions: 5" x 10.5"
Materials: High density faux fur, Ultrasuede, silk ribbons, brass wire, semi-precious findings, and the omnipotent scary-sharp scissors.
Display Method: Free standing
