Client: Total Immersion Software

PandemicWorld is a statistically accurate simulation environment developed to help hospital personnel evaluate their operational plans during an infectious disease outbreak.

Although programmatically complex, PandemicWorld's interface is elegantly simple. There are three basic authoring tools for defining a wide variety of simulation parameters.

Pathogen Builder

- For selecting the contagion and modifying it's biological properties.

Entity Creator

- For defining the AI behavior of active entities such as doctors, nurses and patients – including age, general health and inoculation status.

Simulation Builder

- For defining the pandemic's scope, the capacity of the hospital, and available medical supplies.

In addition, PandemicWorld provides detailed outcome reports for evaluating hospital performance and enhancing operational plans.

PandemicWorld was a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) project for the Department of Defense (DOD.)

The 2009 H1N1 swine flu pandemic claimed an estimated 294,500 lives worldwide.
